That’s what we did, and it didn’t take long to realize that our practice management software was holding us back. Our small practice had grown rapidly and was still heavily reliant on an electronic health record platform that was originally designed to address the needs of a small group or solo practice.
We were using it to do everything from scheduling appointments to submitting bills to managed care organizations. As our practice grew, we needed for more control over data and an increased ability to track and manage our billing and claims cycle. As we added different clinical services it also became increasingly clear that a one-sized-fits-all template for documentation was highly inadequate.
We needed flexibility, analytics, and control. We needed to generate financial reports, deal with corrected claims more efficiently, and respond to requests for documentation more quickly. We needed to address the diverse needs of multiple clinical services in an organized and easy to use, unified platform, capable of handling our high claim volume. We needed to implement a patient experience that reflected our priorities for service delivery and helped our patients connect to their providers. We knew we needed to change.
We spent the next 18 months interviewing various platforms to determine their fit for our group; it was grueling, time consuming, and expensive. We had a multistep process to determine the flexibility, thoroughness, and cost model for each platform we considered. We tried EHR clearing houses, referrals from other professionals, and advertisements to identify possible EHR candidates. We spent hours contemplating the details of each platform’s fee structure and its implications for our anticipated growth. We even went so far as to begin contract negotiations with one platform that promised to meet our needs, but who’s leadership reluctantly later told us that they would not be able to deliver…
After many failed attempts and a great deal of wasted time, our team was frustrated and exhausted. We made the decision to simply take a break from the whole process altogether. It had been six additional months later and we still hadn’t found another EHR platform worth evaluating, when I received an email from the team at Clynyx. It offered something new. Hopeful, I reached out to schedule a consultation call and have been so glad that I did! From the first conversation, the Clynyx team took time to understand how our practice actually operates. They weren’t asking us to simply force our practice into their model, instead they began a conversation with us about how our practice worked. Clynyx approached the project with a structured needs assessment and worked collaboratively with us to shape an environment around our priorities.
Clynyx helped our growing group practice replace recurring workarounds with practical processes that address the underlying challenges. Adopting a new platform takes effort, but the Clynyx team supported us throughout the transition and became a trusted partner.
